Book Review by Mrs. Burnham: I love a good mystery, and this book was no exception. What I loved most about the book was that the narrator and main character of the book is a young British girl (age ??) named Flavia de Luce. She is a smart young girl with an exceptionally curious and bright mind about science--chemistry in particular. Her narration in the book is clever, funny, and smart. Flavia works to solve the mystery of two peculiar events: a dead bird found on her doorstep with a stamp pinned to its beak and then hours later finding a man take his last dying breath in the cucumber patch in the backyard. Flavia finds connections to her father, a widower who cares for his children, which is disturbing her sense of reality.
